Thread: Bowling Gloves

    Default Bowling Gloves

    Anybody use wrist guards, bowling gloves like Revs 2 or 3? Is it worth it to get one if I want to get more revs? I have pretty thin wrists as a whole. I just wanted to see opinions. Thanks in advance.

    well wrist guards are mainly for people that are not able to keep there wrists in a spot for a long period of time but it takes time to get use to it the wrist guard just helps you out soo if your not able to keep your wrist in the same spot then get the wrist guard.

    gloves just help your hand from getting slippery on the ball soo there also good if your hands slipping on the ball abit.

    but tlelyou this neather one of them increases your revs you do the wrist guard and help you but u need to do it on your own cause the more u cup your wrist the more revs you will get out of the ball and the streghter your wrist is the less revs u will put on the ball thats the main part of reving the ball is your wrist

    I realize the concept of reving the ball comes from cupping the wrist and (obviously) from my own input. I guess I really just wanted to know if anybody else with issues like myself has had success using one to improve their rev rate/ game. I wasn't under the delusion that by buying one I would instantly increase my revs with no outside effort from me. Thanks though, I suppose.

    the use of Wrist braces is a much debated topic. So the answers you get depend on who you ask. (Though that's true of most bowling topics.)

    The going opinion is that "not" using one is best, because it gives you the most versatility in your release. Wrist braces basically lock you into one position and at best, should only be used as training aids or if you have a physical limitation.

    Also you have to watch, wrist braces can change your span slightly. Depending on which kind you have, so you might have to be re-measured while wearing it.

    Now if you don't have much hand to begin with. Wrist braces can give additional lift and ball rotation during the release. You can also get a little more speed with them, the ball feels lighter.

    As for rev's wrist braces can limit the maximum amount of revs you can put on the ball. The reason is because it limits the wrists movement. Meaning the only way for the ball to be given any revs, is by rotation of the fingers through the ball.

    As for me:
    I currently use the Moro Design “Extended Pro Release” which I've had for years, I like it because it's easily adjustable in the up/down axis (cupped wrist to broke back) and left/right axis (for spin or roll). It's made well from strong materials.Also you can get replacement straps and padding for it.

    Can a wrist brace help your game? If your having a problem with your release, Yes to a extent it can. But like a lot of thing's it just depends.

    Thank you very much, I know everything is based on opinions, but seeing what a diverse range of people (particularly of those who actually use one) really helps me think things through. I wouldn't say that I "don't have much hand" but I do feel like as I grow and such as a bowler if anything is going to hold me back it's my wrist...just trying to see what's out there. Thank you again for your input, it is greatly appreciated

    There are probably several threads floating around here about exercises that will strengthen your wrists.

    i can tell u the best say too get your wrist stronger get some light dumbbells like 5lb and 10lb and do wrist curles if you dont know what they are look them up on youtube and u an see i did that and my wrists are pretty strong but i did them with 40lb dumbbells cause anything less was to light.

    and when u do it u want to go up 30 times then do another set of down 30 times and then last set down then up as far as u can only 15 times do this for awhile and u will beable to controll your wrist like nothing.

    just dont do it with 40lb dumbbells cause then your wrist will getto strong and u wont know where your wrist is at unless u look at it cause of alot of musle in the way loses abit of feeling in your wrists right know im losing the mussle abit everyday untill i can controll it where i cna feel my wrist postion
