    Default 10 pin rule?

Have a question about the USBC 10 pin average rule. Last year my book average was 194. Currently it's high 202's and pretty good chance it will be at 204 by our next tournament in 4 weeks. Am I ok at 204 or does it trigger at 205? I will likely have 12 more games between now and then and I have been averaging 215 over the past 6 weeks after working on some stuff.

I am not sure which rule you’re asking about.
The USBC Rules department is very good about responding to questions so your next step should be to call or e-mail them.

The USBC (United States Bowling Congress) 10-pin rule is designed to ensure fair competition in leagues and tournaments. Here's a brief overview:

Purpose: The rule applies when a bowler's current average is significantly higher than their previous season's average.
Application: If a bowler's current average (based on at least 21 games) is 10 pins or more higher than their previous season's average, the current average must be used for handicapping and classification purposes1.
Verification: Bowlers are responsible for verifying their averages. If an incorrect average is submitted, it can lead to disqualification or adjustments in prize winnings1.
This rule helps maintain a level playing field by ensuring that bowlers compete with an accurate representation of their current skill level.

So, the answer is, it triggers at 204.

lol. Thanks. So I'm not one to sandbag or try to game the system but being right on the fence the way I think I'll be I'd rather keep it at 203. I'm -114 from hitting 204 so with 4 weeks left before the tournament I would hit it if I average 209-210 over that 4 weeks. In the last 6 weeks my average is 214.83 so unless I hit a stumbling block I'll probably get there. After April 6th I don't care if it goes higher. We have a bye in 2 weeks and I have the most games of anyone on my team so maybe I'll just sit that week out. But none of that probably matters now as I've likely jinxed myself by bringing it up...lol
