If you've been bowling on open conditions it'll take a bit of time to get used to the league pattern (so long as they oil before your league). Once you find it you'll be great - it's consistent and pretty predictable.
So I go and feel great, averaged... 143.. I consider myself maybe a 175-180 shooter right now so the 143 depressed me a bit. I have no average now since I have not bowled sine the ABC I was totally lost for some reason and no it was not the pressure of being a league bowler again after so many years. I really do not want my USBC card to toad 140 or 150...lol..At least I'll get a good handicap next week. lol
stay tuned

Don't worry about it. Long season ahead.
Its just one week. Everyone has them. Your pro shop guy Tom Daughtery shot a 100 on TV. It happens.

It's a long season, plenty of time to get yourself in the 170's. I'm not sure if I remember the reporting process but I am sure that many centers are not reporting averages until a little later in the season, and if I remember correctly I've heard guys complaining some leagues don't report until the league is over.
I'm sure one of the more knowledgeable folks around here know the procedure and can chime in.
So you might have a bit before you have to report averages, so go ahead and throw a couple of 230 games this week!
well second week was about the same as the first. I bowled 3 times in between and averaged maybe 170+. I am bowling with strangers who talk more than bowl and I think that frustrates me. We were the last team finished today and the other team had a blind. At least we took 6 of 8 points today...lol. But I really do not want a 145 average. I find myself adjusting after almost every shot if the one before didn't work. I know that's wrong. I left 7 10 pins on light hits and 4 buried 7 pins, they didn't help since I have issues making corner pins right now.

I know what you mean, this past summer league we had a couple of talkers that would just stand
around on the other end of the center talking when it was their turn to bowl. I'd have to go get
them to come to the lane for their turn then off they go again back down there talking again after
their turn.
We were always the last team to finish for the night so it's suffice to say they will not be on my
team again as they have already been replaced for when we start the new fall season.

I'm not saying the other people are my issue, I am just bowling bad in the league and decent at open bowling. No it's not pressure this is a afternoon senior league no real cash involved. ( 20 teams decent league) I can't quit and I can't tell them to get with the program. So I'll learn to live with it and bowl my own game hopefully....
