Thread: storm tropical breeze or ebonite cyclone?

Default storm tropical breeze or ebonite cyclone?

I'm not sure which ball to buy. I want to get a 12lb ball (due to an injury). With a 14lb ball, I throw about 15 mph. I don't get a lot of revolutions. I align my right foot 2 boards to the right of the big dot in the center of the lane and throw between the first and second arrow. I would also like to be able to be in line with the second arrow and throw at the second arrow. I hope my delivery can help you folks recommend which ball I should get. Thanks.

Between the storm tropical breeze or ebonite cyclone, it's pretty much a coin toss their comparable balls. And at 12lbs they'll have generic cores. So IMO go for which is the cheapest or the one with the colors you like.

If you were feeling froggy, you might look at a Motiv Ascent

Right handed Stroker, high track ,about 13 degree axis tilt. PAP is located 5 9/16” over 1 3/4” up.Speed ave. about 14 mph at the pins. Medium rev’s.High Game 300, High series 798

I thought both of those balls had the same cores as the heavier balls.

On Double checking (Which is what you have to do, when looking at low weight balls. Typically at 12 or less is where they go to the generic cores. Each MFG. is different and each ball is different in which they use.)

It depends on just which Tropical Breeze it is (There are 6).

Tropical Breeze™ - Teal/Blue has the the same core 16-12 lbs
Tropical Breeze™ - Carbon/Chrome has the the same core 16-12 lbs
Tropical Breeze™ - Orange/Teal has the the same core 16-12 lbs
    -------------
Tropical Breeze™ - Purple/Gold/Cherry has the same core 16-14 lbs and the 13-12 has a slightly different core (Though visually similar)
Tropical Breeze™ - Black/Cherry has the same core 16-14 lbs and the 13-12 has a slightly different core (Though visually similar)
Tropical Breeze™ Pink/Purple has the same core 16-14 lbs and the 13-12 has a slightly different core (Though visually similar)

Dropping from 14lbs to 12lbs, there's also a pretty good change in RG 2.57 to2.63

For Ebonite there a 6 Cyclones

Cyclone Fireball has the same core in 10lbs through 16lbs.
Cyclone Royal Blue / Lighting Yellow has the same core in 10lbs through 16lbs.
Cyclone Red / Yellow / Purple has the same core in 10lbs through 16lbs.
Cyclone Red / Gold / Silver has the same core in 10lbs through 16lbs.
    -------------
Cyclone Orange / Purple / Red has the same core in 12lbs through 16lbs.
Cyclone Black / Red / Yellow has the same core in 12lbs through 16lbs.

Dropping from 14lbs to 12lbs, there's also a pretty good change in RG 2.54 to2.60

For light weight balls I prefer motiv and really like the ascent apex too. Will give you a little more backen than either of the other two balls.

I asked the person in the pro shop about a 12 lb ball and she recommended that I use a 13 because she thinks my carry will be better.

I bought the 13 cyclone and it kicks ***. Was able to throw straight and easy at the 2nd arrow. Had 3 200+ games. A few light hits left a pin standing and a few pocket hits left splits but I think that was due to the pin setter at my lanes because the same thing happens to other bowlers.
