Thread: My buddy is trying to get me into Track brand balls.

Default My buddy is trying to get me into Track brand balls.

So my buddy, who has been teaching me to bowl with my thumb, suggested I start using Track brand bowling balls. He switched over a month ago, and he loves them. Now, in the last 3 weeks I've seen him bowl 2 300 games with a 503T, so it works for him. I know of at least 7 or 8 people around here who have arsenals full of Tracks, and about 3 or 4 more who have at least 1 or 2 Tracks in the bag. I see all the DV8 stuff here, but I don't see anyone around here using one. I did know a guy who had a Too Reckless, but I only saw him use it once, next time out he had a Hammer. I kind of like Tracks number system, but I'm seeing on Bowlingball.com that the 503T has a higher hook rating tha the 706A. Even the 508A has a higher hook rating than the 706A. But the 508A has a lower hook rating than the 716C and 716T, which is how it's supposed to be. So the number system, which is supposed to make things more simple, is now more confusing. Still interested in the brand though. I know what the opinion around here would be, "get a DV8" but I'm not sure. Normaly, i would wait until my buddy is done with his ball, and buys a new one, and get his old ball. However I need a new ball. Thinking of a 503T, or a Marauder. My buddy has always steered me in the right direction, he has my game going in the right direction, maybe I should listen to him with ball brand as well.

    get both! lol

I have never tried track, but the marauder does hit like a tank. i'm of the opinion that you should try everything before locking yourself into one brand. if you can get the track balls from your friend, then i would say get the marauder and then get a track ball from him when he's done with it.

I would get whatever ball that you feel is going to work best for you and the lane conditions. I don't think you can go wrong with either brand; whether it's DV8 or Track. Both companies make quality equipment; it's just a matter of you finding a ball that works for you.

I really like everything about DV8; the quality of their equipment, logos/graphics, and their overall image. I see a big mixture of ball brands at my local center; it's a mix of DV8, Hammer, Storm, Track and Motiv.

I think the DV8 Image is a little lame, and forced. I can see what they are trying to do, but to refer to your pros as "ballers" and your balls as "rocks" and that silly mission statement. It sounds like someone who isn't cool, saying to themselves "hey, what do cool people say, I'll try saying those things."

Sinister in the end remember DV8 = Brunswick. They are just trying to market them in a different way. Brunswick has always been kind of a straight laced company, DV8 is kind of them saying, "let's try to market to the other side of the spectrum". I don't pay attention to the silly sayings and marketing, but I do like their balls and my Madness works well for me.

In the end just think of it as DV8 is a Brunswick with the crazy paint job and loud music. Or should I say Brunswick's evil twin.

I would have no qualms about going with Track. My first reactive resin ball was a Track. I admit that the main reason I got it was the pro shop only had two used 15# balls and the ball driller thought the other one sucked.

I own the 508A & 300C and they are hard hitting on Dry/light-Medium oil lanes.

You have a great opportunity since your friend already has a couple! Now, your style and his style will be different, and I'm sure his drilling layout isn't exactly like yours, but you can always throw his ball a few times and see what you think. Personally, when spending money on a ball I like to be as sure as possible (within reason) that it's going to be something I will like. If I throw a Track ball and feel like I like it, I'd be MUCH happier to buy that and get it drilled for me, than to blindly buy a DV8 ball (or whatever) and hope for the best. You just never know...

I'm still convinced that there's a mental aspect to buying a bowling ball as much as anything. It's like someone said up above:

I think whatever you buy, you'll find a way to adjust to it eventually, and you'll bowl well. So buy what you WANT to buy. I'm kind of like you: DV8 might make the best balls in the history of the world, but if they're too popular I'm less likely to want to throw one. I'm looking forward to throwing my Lane #1, because I've thrown someone else's a couple times and I felt it was a solid ball, AND because I know I'll be the only one who has a Lane 1 in my league! I like staying off the beaten path.

It's hard to use my buddies ball, he uses a Sarge Easter grip, and I'm not used to it. I kind of want to try it, but I'm on a little bit of a roll right now, and I don't want to mess with that. Maybe tomorrow I'll give it a try when we meet up for a later afternoon practice.

There is no reason to not try Track. I don't fully understand their new system as you stated above, they've seemed to go away from the numbers making sense. I have The Rising and it's still a good ball. I always like to try the unknown/not as popular brands. I was going back and forth between DV8, Motiv and Mo-Rich when I saw a video of the Revenge. That video sold me and the way their stuff works for me has kept me.
