Hey guys, I Started to bowl about 2 weeks ago when it was spring break in my high school. Currently I'm averaging about 165 and i bowl with 2 fingers instead of three. I don't know anything about equipment so I came here to ask you guys for advice :D. I was wondering what can help support my wrist because after I play with friends my wrist starts to hurt. I was thinking of getting a ball because I'm getting pretty into bowling and was thinking of joining the summer league for fun.:D

There are several wrist supports available have a look at www.bowlingball.com go to accessories then click wrist supports. That said you should find a coach that could watch you to see how you roll the ball and determine if there is a flaw that could cause your wrist to hurt and/or help get you get started on the correct way to roll. And lastly wrist exercises/strengthening is a good way to go.

GL!

I use athletic tape on my wrist. I've tried many different kinds of braces but they limit my mobility too much and fit weird (my wrist is 7" while my forearms are 16").
Using the thumb is a personal choice but I would suggest that when you get a ball have the thumb properly fitted also. This way if you decide to try with the thumb in the future it will be ready to go.

You will have the same issues as me with braces then. I seriously doubt that the "normal" hand size charts will be adequate.
For a ball; ask your local pro shop operator to watch you bowl. They can match your style with the correct equipment. Just explain that it is your first ball and most are usually more than happy to help. If you don't know of a good pro shop, go to the center on league night, ask at the counter to be introduced to some of the better bowlers and ask them where they get their drilling done. All good bowlers are proud of "their" pro shop and will give you the info (I carry business cards in my wallet for where I go). Storm, Roto-Grip and DV8 all make top notch balls.

Is there a difference between bowling gloves and wrist support? and I live in VA so there as shop called Chantily bowling supplies and was planning to visit there before I bought the support I have the Brunswick Air Command Positioner Right Handed in mind do you have any experience with this wrist support

Yes i have used this brace and think it will work well for you.
The difference with the braces and gloves. Some gloves are just that, with no real wrist support. Kind of like the older gloves worn for football. Others are more of a combo of glove and support. The Brunswick power glove falls into this category. Others such as the Robby's Rev series have adjustable wrist positions.

Now I'm Stuck between the air commander and the power glove which one do you think will be better? also which one is more flexible I guess and is the power glove big? because on the picture it looks puffy

Edit Nvm i think im going to with the commander X

Go with the commander. The power glove is not flexible at all (until the metal plate breaks).

was going to make a similar thread so I suppose I'll just post here:

Was wondering if any kind of bowling glove would help reduce the stress/fatigue put on my hand/fingers when bowling? My hand/fingers start to hurt after about two games, not my wrist so much. I'm much too used to my bowling style to change it after 10 years :P

I use grip tape around my fingers when my arthritis makes it too painful to bear. It helps but does not completely get rid of it. You should also have a pro shop double check your span and pitch. A good driller can alter span and pitch to help alleviate pain.

You could use the same glove Pete Webber does....a golf glove. However you may need to open up the holes to accomodate the added thickness of the glove, which are pretty thin but still may need to.

I used to use a golf glove when bowling a long time before Pete Webber started using one
hmmm......maybe he copped it from me  yes you would have to open the holes up a little
bit to use the glove but not a lot.

Did it support the fingers at all? It would seem that a golf glove would be too thin and has no reinforcement to be very supportive.

Nope no support for the fingers or any kind of reinforcement it is just for more or less a consistent feel
on the ball and a more consistent feel between different bowling balls.

That's what I assumed but figured it didn't hurt to ask. I've been debating trying the golf glove to help with the callouses on the pads of my finger tips and the knuckle of my thumb. The thumb would be alright if I would just stop grabbing the ball with my thumb.

As for the finger pads, might want to check your grip. Too tight of inserts can cause it, also Too much forward pitch.

The grips in my spare ball were too tight. I changed them last week. I wanted a tighter feel but going down a size was too much.

I use a Turbo 2N1 Bulldog wrist support. I developed a bad habit of breaking my wrist back on my release. Lucy Sandelin suggested I try it when I won lesson time with her, and I've used it since. There's a blade type thing that keeps my hand in place that I can remove for spares. http://www.bowlingball.com/products/bowling-accessories/Turbo2-N-1Grips/4614/Bulldog-Wrist-Support-Gold-Left-Handed.html?lf=search I don't use the palm strap, though.

This is the wrist support I use at the moment Brunswick Powerkoil XF (http://www.bowlingball.com/products/bowling-accessories/Brunswick/5162/Powerkoil-XF-Right-Handed.html) as for the
callouses on the pads of your finger tips I had the same problem recently. I went
up 1 size on my grips and the problem went away. I was just like you I wanted a
tighter feel on the grips but it was a tad bit to tight for me.
