Wow. The year before Covid we had 16 teams in our league. The following year I think we had 9 then last year back to 13. I'm hearing we are losing 4 teams this year. I'm going to the meeting tomorrow night but so far we have at least 1 from our team that won't be back this year and a couple more that are on the fence

Gonna go in early and bowl a few practice games. Haven't bowled since early June. Had an 893 4 game set that night with a 268 and 234. The 268 was the front 8 then got fast in the 9th and 10th and left the 7 pin then struck in the fill. Tried my old Storm shoes with new soles and my slide and balance was much better so interested to see if that continues or was an anomaly

We're actually kinda growing and I hear that other leagues at our center are going up as well. I'm also hearing about a TON of tournaments - which either means I was oblivious before, they're marketing better (which I don't think they are) or something . . .

So far 10 confirmed teams. Went to the meeting tonight. Had 13 teams last year.

Talk around here is another center not far from here may be closing. I haven't bowled there in years but heard they hand oil and won't pass the new USBC 3 year lane cert. The owner lives too far away to run it and the guy that was running it retired so as of now they don't have anyone to run it. They are thinking we may get some of those teams but might not be until next year

The sport league that I bowl in used to go up in the summer to about 40-46 bowlers and would drop to the low twenties for the fall/winter session. Last fall we had about thirty bowlers, but we only went up to 34 this summer.

My Thursday league will meet one week from today. We'll find out then if we have had a net loss or not. According to rumor one team has lost its leadoff bowler but has already filled his slot. Another team has supposedly lost two bowlers and the remaining member is dealing with a leg injury.

Our summer league has 40 2 man teams and is full every year and has a waiting list. But the fall league fizzles out...lol

On a positive note I have been asked to bowl on 3 other teams but I committed to my team and won't go back on that. Just not who I am but I would have loved to have bowled with the guys I was asked to join last night

Well it doesn't pay to be a loyal person...lol. Went to the league meeting last Wednesday cause everyone else on the team was 'busy'. While there the captain of another team asked me if I wanted to join their team and I told him I had committed to my team and I'm not that type of person to go back on my word. This was a team I'd love to be on as I have known the captain for about 30+ years and there are some really good bowlers that are very technical. So a couple of weeks ago our captain texted saying he quit. Then the other night 3 others texted saying they were quitting. That left me and 2 other guys. We had 7 with 4 of us being full time and 3 sharing that 5th spot. So I spent Sunday night scrambling and the one guy that was still on our team found 4 buddies that he said would bowl with us. I didn't get the names so no idea who they are. But tonight my wife was bowling summer league and I think if someone there would have asked me to join them I would have done it. I don't know these 4 guys or if they will quit after a week, etc.
So next year I'm looking out for me first.
