As the title says, how long after you started bowling did it take for you to bowl a perfect game? A sanctioned 300 not practice.

Im at 1yr and 7months of bowling with a league each week. I had been bowling only a month before starting my first league. I have 1 practice 300 but no official 300's. Also, 2 practice 299's and 1 295.

I have had 4 279's in league. 11 strikes one spare somewhere in there. usually a 10 pin between the 3 and 7th frame.

That's impressive, man. I've been bowling nearly 3 decades and I'm still waiting for my first perfect game (sanctioned, non or practice). My highest game was in a non-sanctioned league 279 but my highest sanctioned game was a 234. The highest practice game I have was a 248.

Wow, that's crazy. When I posted my numbers, I meant those to be slow. most nights it seems impossible to bowl a 300. the long breaks in between. so many bowlers on one set of lanes tearing them up.

I started bowling in 1967 and it wasn't until my late teens before I threw a 300. In total I have thrown 5 (my last one in a jackpot tournament Memorial Day weekend of 1994) but none of them have been sanctioned. They were all thrown in either non-sanctioned events, or thrown out due to lane conditions...

I've been bowling since I was 9 (17 now), and I still haven't thrown a 300.

I've started with the front 8 twice, but choked it away in the ninth frame.

37 years and counting! While I have several games over 270 the spare has always come before the fifth frame so I figure I've never even come close.

Never bowled one sanctioned or not. I threw a Varipapa 300 last week but that is the closest I have been.

Have a handful of sanctioned 279 games though

Couple 300s in 9 pin but those don't count :D

Edit: I started Bowling in '98

I started bowling when I was a kid (late 1960's) and bowled my one and only sanctioned 300 in 1991. Also bowled a sanctioned 290 and an unsanctioned 300 the same year.

it took me 1.5 year for my first sanctioned 300 I'm in my 7/8 season. My goal is to do it in every league each year. I'm not far from it I have 279,289,298 high games 730,770,810 series in my 3 leagues. I have never keep track of practice games or could be series, no pressure, no glory.

I think everyone would be different, I have been bowling since I was 5. didnt get my first 300 until I was in my mid 20's.
For some, once you get the first one, the next one is a little easier. I now have over 30 300 games and have gone back to back 300 games 4 times.....It is and will always be a thrill to throw a 300. I still get nervous on the last couple shots. It would not be any fun if you dont get any excitment out of it.
On the other hand, my brother has been bowling for just as long and has never had a sactioned 300 game. He is very good, but can never get the pins to fall. Just keep practicing and getting better and they will come. Once you get one, you want to get more.
Good luck!

I've been bowling 7 years. No sanctioned 300s yet. Eight that were non-sanctioned leagues or tournaments and two the day my mother passed away (only time I went back to back). None of our summer leagues are sanctioned and they start a half hour later. That actually gives me a few minutes after work and before league to breathe and not feel rushed. That and the heat seem to really help my game.

I must be getting old because I can't remember my first 300. Good Lord I must have Alzheimer's! Really this is bothering me; why can't I remember the first one? I know it was in practice. I only have one sanctioned 300, but about a baker's dozen in practice. I had one in a non-sanctioned tournament. I had 23 in a row in that stretch.

Anyway, I've bowled since I was a kid and started taking it seriously in my early 20's. It probably took about 5 years and a lot of practice to finally get a 300 in practice. It took about 7 more years to finally get one in league and now 15 yrs later I still haven't got another one in league. I don't know what my problem is. LOL

Wow all over the board. Congrats to those who have that elusive perfect game. For those of us who haven't, let's keep soldiering on! haha
