I was looking at the Hammer Bowling site for plastic spare balls to compliment my Hammer Nail and I didn't find any like at Storm.

I did find this Taboo ball with a weight block and a polyester cover.

What's the deal?

BTW, My spares have gone UP since the new ball. Most of my open frames where splits last night so that kinda sucked!

My 10 pin pickup with my Nail has gone UP too.

ok i think ik why they made this one where it will hook probly because they now on a regular pattern like a THS or sport the ball wont hook but as it says in the video of what oil they are bowling on the kegal spare challenge pattern thats probly why they made this ball to hook so who ever is throwing this ball and get it to hook on that pattern and beable to strike every time rather then throwing it straight at it.

So this is the ANTI spare ball?

Ok, so most every spare ball you see will have a pancake weight block and a plastic cover to limit movement, the taboo spare-ball is an interesting case, it has the same plastic cover, but has the same core as the rest of the taboo line, this will allow for more movement than a "normal" spare ball, but still less than even a urethane ball with a pancake weight block.

Would this be a 10 pin ball?

I have been looking at this ball. It matches the cover graphics of my Hammer Nail nicely :)

one thing i never knew about the taboo line was the core is the same as the black widow lol

yes you can get this ball to hit 10 pins but if you have a high rev rate and slower speed you will have to be more behind the ball but if your a slower speed and low rev bowler then you can get this ball to easy hit those 10pins.

Yes that White Dot is a perfect spare ball with the pancake weight block and the
polyester/plastic cover as it is the perfect 10 pin ball and is a close match to your
Hammer Nail. Another spare ball you might want to consider is the Brunswick T Zone
polyester/plastic cover ball that is what I use for all of my single and double wood
spares.

This one looks nice

Do they all have the same innards and reaction and just the design is different?

now im thinking i might get the taboo spare just because of the colors on it but i already got a spare ball that i only ever use throwing at 10pins and 7pins and some splits would be nice to have the taboo spare because of alittle hook because of my spare shots i do miss to the right so alittle hook would not be that bad for me.

Yes I think that any T-Zone would have the same core and just the color scheme would differ.

100% correct all T-Zones have the same pancake weight blocks inside
they just have different color schemes.

I like the way the WD looks. Any difference?

Are any spare balls different or just the same?

How about the cover stock and finish and grit? Are they all pretty much the same too?

That Taboo looks interesting.

the coverstock will be all the same polyester coverstock the grits can be different but most of them always end up having polish on it witch dose nothing much to it but if you ever went on dry dry lanes then a sanded plastic ball could make it hook and polish would make it slid more.\

only spare ball that i have seen that different then the rest is the taboo spare so any other spare ball is the same i just go with a cheap plastic ball witch is WD and any other but i have always used a WD and ik how it feels in my hand.

Not all spare balls are made the same. The Hammer Taboo Spare ball is not really a straight shot spare ball. It was designed for plastic ball only games hence the really aggressive core. The video on their website said the pattern they were using was a 27' Kegel pattern. That is really super short.
So, do not get this ball with the intention of shooting straight or even relatively straight at pins.

Well I did find out that my Hammer Nail doesn't really do well with the 10 pin on Medium to Dry lanes. I approach as normal, stand to the left and i throw it across the 4th arrow after I break my wrist and follow threw hard. The ball will hit the edge and then hook straight and roll dead on to 10. Not a lot of room for error.

The Taboo Spare may just be what I am looking for out of a 10 pin spare ball considering i don't throw at the 10 pin hard and fast. I don't use my thumb for the 10 pin spares ether.

I am still very happy with my Hammer Nail. I am going to visit my pro shop tomorrow and give him a status report.

Well never mind about me getting the Taboo Spare. This is what I was reading :(

"The Taboo Spare uses the Gas Mask core in 14-16# weights, but has a standard pancake weight-block in 12# and 13# weights"

The Taboo Spare is advertised as a ball not only to shoot at spares but to actually use for strike balls if the lanes do dry out alot. Why would you want to see a video of spare shooting anyway? A plastic ball goes straight on a normal pattern. On a burnt up shot you may need to move over a little if you like to put a bit of rotation on it. You don't need a video to know that.

In short if you want a ball to pick up spares, just get a plastic, it doesn't matter what brand it is, they all do the same thing.

Unclemantis throws a 13 pound ball, 10 mph with a thumbless grip. The Taboo core in the Taboo spare WILL hook on him on a THS or open bowling (which is what he currently bowls).
Now a pancake weight block is what he needs but doesn't seem to understand that...yet. He is very rev dominant with a 90° axis rotation.
