DV8 Misfit, Out of the Box! (results)

Well I had her drilled today a little less aggressive then my Alpha-Max, and because Im use to no inserts I opted to keep the Misfit the same.
After all the measurements, drilled and a couple tweaks here and there, I was ready to drop down and throw a full string. Im very happy to say the least, I was completely impressed how the ball performed over my Alpha-Max, drilling it the pro decided to take some of the angular hook out and smooth it out and it worked, the transition was flawless as it skid threw the oil and swung into the pins with an powerful punch.
The results, 1st game out of the box was 208, my very first game over 200 ever, backed it up with a 172 and 187. Needless to say, Im very very impressed. Thanks to all and a special Thanks to billf for dealing with all the questions, and Thanks DV8:D

billf, Id be very happy to stay above 150, lol. the 208 just seemed like the pins were going over no matter and I really had to work at the others. Looking forward to league night Tuesday.

Another DV8 success story. Congrats on the first 200.

Last night two players from the other team were throwing my Marauder. The one guy threw a 234 with it and the other threw a 223 with it. Both of them were trying to buy it from me right there on the spot.

Congrats on the success you had with your new DV8 Misfit. Sounds like you have a new close friend. Keep her clean and treat her right. Just think you have to get use to it yet. Sounds like the sky is the limit. Good luck on your future games.

Just got a misfit also and I'm not sure i like how it's drilled. My guy said to go with semi fingertip instead of fingertip and what he hell do I know, I said that's fine. Ball fells ok to me grip wise but I think he drilled it pretty weak. Not sure what configuration he did but a buddy said the pin(? Is between my finger holes above them in the middle. I'd post a picture of my layout if someone thinks they would be able to tell me what they think.

With all this great talk about DV8 balls being so great, I have to get one now. Really what I have to do is talk my buddy into buying one, then tell him he stinks with it so he will give it to me. I may just go down to the pro shop tonight and see if he has a Marauder is stock. I'm a deviant anyway may as well make it official.

Hit the lanes last night with great enthusiasm and ready to crush it with the new Misfit....unfortunately I left a little disappointed. I started out slow and struggling to find the groove which took the better part of the first 5, finally settled in with a low 131, games 2/3 got a little better with a 156,159 finish. I had a hard time all night looking for the oil to keep the Misfit longer down the lanes but never found it. Talking to a couple of the higher average bowlers (190's and up) I learned that the house isnt to big on oil and the lanes are very dry 99% of the time.
I love the Misfit in my local alley and it rips right threw the pins, but finding the sweet spot on the league lanes is a different story. Need to do a little searching for ideas, I dont want to compromise the Misfit for my local lanes, but my league lanes is where the scores need to be. Maybe polish it up?
I noticed my LPS has a Storm Natural (used) on the shelf for $50drilled, thinking it may be a better ball for dry lanes.

The Natural is a great dry lane piece. For that price it would be worth it. What line are you playing with your misfit? I have low ball speed and high revs so some times I will play way outside laying down at the 10, cross the 6 at the arrows and it will break around the 2. My dad is a little nuts, he will play straight up the 1 board. Occasional cutters don't bother him but I tend to yank left when I try that line.

I stand on the gutter line (inside the 40) and throw across the 20 board to keep it in the oil longer because my slow ball speed & hi revs. Im working on gaining more speed and I think that'll come with the more I bowl. With my Alpha Max I had to really hurl it out to the 10 and hope it stays inside the 1/3 instead of bombing out to the 4/7.
